The fifth edition of TEDxCERN is taking place on 20 November in the heart of Geneva. The “Elephant in the room” theme tackles obvious problems that need to be addressed, pulling you into the technological realm that’s increasingly taking over humanity. From NASA and genetics researchers to artificial intelligence and trust in the digital era, this year’s speakers will take the stage with mind-blowing talks about ongoing paradigm shifts within our society. The search for exoplanets, the complexity of biotechnologies and genomics, ethics around AI and robotics, fake news and information privacy, environmental changes and anthropocene are only a few of the topics to be covered. Get ready to be transported.
TEDxCERN is a local event with an international echo. As with previous editions, it will be globally webcast. You can watch the live webcast stream on the TEDxCERN homepage or via the CERN homepage. Even better, you can take the opportunity to connect and engage with your local community or even simply with friends and family, by hosting your own viewing event featuring our webcast feed.
The process is simple, all you need to do is book a room (your institute, university, school, library, hospital, museum), invite colleagues, friends and members and simply tune in to the TEDxCERN webcast. Not only will this allow you to bring CERN, science and technology into your community, but also to create constructive discussions on topics that might affect you locally. The organisers will also provide a dedicated web address with high-quality streaming and relevant technical support. If you are interested, you can find all the information you need about hosting your TEDxCERN screening here.
Since its first edition in 2013, TEDxCERN has received global acclaim and has become an important idea-sharing platform and renowned TEDx event. With more than eighty talks from leaders of science and technology, fifteen million views and tens of thousands of social-media mentions, its ideas are definitely worth spreading. TEDxCERN is a CERN outreach event and part of the CERN & Society programme. CERN & Society activities are only possible thanks to voluntary support received from partners, for example Rolex and its long-standing association with the Organisation. The 2018 TEDxCERN is also supported by Fondation Didier et Martine Primat.
