CERN Alumni Space Group Special Event with astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski
The CERN Alumni Space Group hosted a special Q&A event with European Space Agency (ESA) project astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski on Thursday, 12 March, attracting a large in-person and online attendance.
Uznański-Wiśniewski, who worked at CERN for over a decade before a career break to pursue his work with ESA, spent 18 days on the International Space Station in 2025 as part of the Axiom Mission 4.
For over an hour, he gamely responded to a variety of questions posed by the audience, who asked about his time in space, his career, his views on the space industry and more. Following the session, Uznański-Wiśniewski stayed to take photos and mingle with the attendees.
Uznański-Wiśniewski’s participation in the Alumni Space Group followed on from a keynote presentation about his mission organised by the CERN Colloquium.
The Q&A with Uznański-Wiśniewski was the Alumni Space Group’s second event since officially launching in February. The group offers space enthusiasts a chance to learn from and meet people working in the space industry, to network, and to share their passion with a like-minded community.
