COMMUNITY
NINE YEARS OF THE CERN ALUMNI NETWORK: CONNECTING PEOPLE, IDEAS AND IMPACT
On 8 June 2017, the CERN Alumni Network was launched with a simple vision: to ensure that the CERN experience did not end when a contract did. Nine years later, that vision has grown into a global community of more than 12,000 members across over 150 countries. Over the years, the Network has brought alumni together through reunions, mentoring, regional and interest groups, career support, and community initiatives, while continuing to celebrate the achievements and impact of CERN alumni around the world. As we celebrate this milestone, we thank everyone who has contributed to building this remarkable community and look forward to welcoming alumni back to CERN for Fourth Collisions in March 2027. FROM CERN
- Getting under the skin of atomic nuclei using antimatter - The AEgIS Collaboration has demonstrated how antimatter can be used as a powerful new tool to probe the outer regions of atomic nuclei, opening exciting possibilities for nuclear physics research: https://home.cern/getting-under-the-skin-of-atomic-nuclei-using-antimatter/
- LHCb explores new territory during a special low-energy run - In April, the LHC briefly operated at significantly lower energies than usual, allowing the LHCb experiment to collect unique data and explore previously inaccessible areas of particle physics: https://home.cern/lhcb-explores-new-territory-during-a-special-low-energy-run/
- Accelerator Report: An important upgrade to the PS radiofrequency system and a heavy-ion run in full swing - Read the latest update on CERN's accelerator complex, including progress on a major Proton Synchrotron upgrade and the ongoing heavy-ion physics programme: https://home.cern/accelerator-report-an-important-upgrade-to-the-ps-radiofrequency-system-and-a-heavy-ion-run-in-full-swing/
