Please find below the media monitoring report for the period from 28 September to 4 October 2026. These press cuttings have been selected from the results identified by our media monitoring system.
Last week’s coverage opened with several articles following the conclusion of the public consultation on the Future Circular Collider (FCC) in France and Switzerland. Le Monde reported on the closing of the French public debate, featuring CERN Director for Stakeholder Relations Ursula Bassler, while Le Temps covered the end of the Swiss consultation and quoted Yann Lechevin, FCC Territorial Implementation section leader.
Media coverage also focused on the ongoing transition to the High-Luminosity LHC. Following a media visit on-site, BBC Inside Science explored the upgrade, as well as the future of particle physics, and featured several CERN experts. Other coverage related to the upgrade included an ORF interview with HL-LHC Project Leader Markus Zerlauth.
Coverage on physics results included a piece from Interesting Engineering on a new ATLAS result on the internal structure of nucleons, while Phys.org covered a new CMS result on the observation of jet diffusion wakes in quark–gluon plasma.
Finally, CERN’s 72nd anniversary also received attention, with the Greek in.gr publishing a feature looking back at the Organisation’s history, achievements and evolution
