EVENTS
Sécheron Hasler Group — CERN Alumni Virtual Company Showroom, 26 October, 10:00 CET
Discover Sécheron Hasler Group, a global leader in high-power electrical protection and switching solutions for rail transportation, energy-intensive industries and renewable energy. The hybrid session will introduce the company, its areas of expertise and current job opportunities, with insights into the skills it is looking for. You will also be able to ask questions directly to company representatives. Joining in person is a great opportunity to network, meet recruiters and learn more about potential career opportunities : https://alumni.cern/events/220469
News from the Lab: Arts at CERN — 29 October, 18:00–19:00 CET, Online
What happens when contemporary art meets fundamental science? Join Giulia Bini, Curator and Head of Arts at CERN, for the next edition of News from the Lab. She will introduce the programme and explore how contemporary and media art intersect with science and advanced technologies. Discover how Arts at CERN brings artistic inquiry into dialogue with fundamental research, opening up new perspectives at the intersection of art, science and technology: https://alumni.cern/events/219558
GROUPS
- CERN Alumni Barcelona - Visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, 29 October: https://alumni.cern/events/223678
- CERN Alumni Belgium & Eindhoven - Visit EURIDICE (HADES), 5 November: https://alumni.cern/events/220224
- AI for Science - Can AI agents autonomously perform experimental high-energy physics — and, more importantly, can they do it well? 11 November, Online: https://alumni.cern/events/224434
- CERN Alumni Barcelona - ALBA Sincrotrón Open Day, 14 November: https://alumni.cern/events/216649
- CERN Alumni Copenhagen - From CERN to Nuclear Energy: An Evening with Esben Klinkby, 16 November: https://alumni.cern/events/223241
- New Group - CERN Alumni Helsinki Launch Event, 19 November, 18:00–20:00 CET, CERN Alumni Helsinki is hosting its first official event! Join fellow alumni for an informal get-together, meet the local community and help kick-start the group: https://alumni.cern/networks/events/224820
FROM CERN
CERN and Mistral Join Forces to Accelerate AI for Science - CERN and Mistral have signed a statement of intent to advance AI for science and strengthen Europe’s scientific and technological capabilities. The collaboration aims to explore how artificial intelligence can support scientific research and innovation : https://home.cern/cern-and-mistral-join-forces-to-accelerate-ai-for-science/
Studying Beautiful Flavour Transitions - CMS and LHCb researchers have released new results on a rare process in which a beauty quark transforms into a strange quark and two muons. Studying these rare transitions helps physicists test the Standard Model and look for possible signs of new physics: https://home.cern/studying-beautiful-flavour-transitions/
AND FINALLY
The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Francis Halzen for his decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin: https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/physics/2026/summary/
Inspired by this recognition of neutrino research, why not earn your own Neutrino Badge? Share job opportunities, career events or start-ups on alumni.cern to help fellow alumni discover new opportunities and contribute to a dynamic, resourceful community: https://alumni.cern/page/cern-alumni-engagement-programme
