Women In Technology - Friday Links - 30/06/2023
Hello everybody,
here is our selection of Friday links.
WIT activities
- We've got you covered!
You've already heard in the FL of last week but stay tuned for the locations.
To remind:
WIT recently distributed little boxes with hygiene products in some toilets all around CERN.
Our idea is to contribute to a feeling of comfort and consideration of those urgent needs.
We are planning on providing the exact locations through CERN’s GIS portal; till then we hope it’s a nice surprise to some of you.
Any feedback, in particular locations you think would profit from this, is still more than welcome!

- Meeting with Riga TechGirls
Recently one of our members Adriana have met one representative from the Riga Tech girls.
They had a quite nice exchange of activities and ideas.
Riga TechGirls is the first community in Latvia dedicated to educating and inspiring girls & women about technology.
If you want to learn more about them you can visit their website: https://rigatechgirls.com
- CERN Science Gateway
Are you curious about CERN Science Gateway and interested in finding out how you can get involved?
Join us for an info session on 6 July 11:00-11:45 in 61/1-009 - Room C (with informal lunch at R1 afterwards)!

CERN Science Gateway will be inaugurated on 7 Oct and will be open to the public as of 8 Oct 2023. Already now, you can sign up for training sessions if you would like to become a guide for the new education & outreach activities.
In this info session, we will give an overview of the different activities, show you the new guides website and training list, answer any questions you might have, and discuss how the WIT community can get involved.

- Recently world economic forum has published the global gender gap report of this year.
"The Global Gender Gap Index annually benchmarks the current state and evolution of gender parity across four key dimensions (Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment). It is the longest-standing index tracking the progress of numerous countries’ efforts towards closing these gaps over time since its inception in 2006."
