CERN Alumni Careers Fair - Introducing Eiroforum and CERN Alumni Booths

Published on January 26, 2024

The upcoming CERN Alumni Third Collisions event, scheduled for February 9-11, 2024, is set to feature a new and exciting addition - the first-ever Careers Fair.

From Thursday afternoon until Monday morning, the CERN's Main Building's "pas perdus" and mezzanine areas will transform into a bustling marketplace of opportunities, and we'd like to introduce you to some of them.

EIROFORUM ORGANIZATIONS

ESO

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) enables scientists worldwide to discover the secrets of the Universe for the benefit of all. We design, build and operate world-class observatories on the ground.

Astronomers worldwide use our telescopes to tackle exciting questions and spread the fascination of astronomy: How did the Universe come into existence? What are black holes? Are we alone in the Universe?

Eurofusion / Fusion for Energy / ITER

EUROfusion's mission is to pave the way for fusion power reactors. The consortium funds the research at 28 of its members (in 26 EU member states) as a joint programme within Euratom Horizon Europe.

Given recent progress, enthusiasm about the future of fusion is greater than ever. Especially the private fusion industry has seen massive growth. The companies involved vary in technology, strategies, and levels of funding, but all move the global fusion community a step closer towards a shared goal with the ITER project: the development of fusion as a viable energy source.

Fusion for Energy (F4E) is the European Union organisation managing Europe’s contribution to ITER, the biggest scientific experiment on the path to fusion energy.

We work closely with industry and research organisations to manage the production of 45% of Europe's contribution to ITER, a fusion machine currently taking shape in Cadarache, France. ITER will constitute a major leap towards the clean and sustainable generation of abundant baseload energy, complementing renewables.

F4E, staffed by skilled project managers in engineering, physics, and administration based in Barcelona (Spain), Cadarache (France), and Garching (Germany), is also involved in three major fusion R&D projects, stemming from the Broader Approach Agreement signed between Europe and Japan.

ILL

The Institut Laue-Langevin is an international research centre at the leading edge of neutron science and technology.

As the world’s flagship centre for neutron science, the ILL provides scientists with a very high flux of neutrons feeding some 40 state-of-the-art instruments, which are constantly being developed and upgraded.

CERN ALUMNI BOOTHS

ADVANTICS

ADVANTICS is a tech company, focused on research and development in the field of electric mobility, power converters and control systems. Our main products include high power switching converters for vehicle charging, power grid assist and off-grid generation, and control systems for vehicle charging on the car and station side.

ION BIOTEC

ION BIOTEC Cold Plasma Technology has proven useful in deactivating a broad spectrum of microorganisms and stimulating the tissue regeneration process, without damaging living tissue.

Based on our patented technology for the generation of cold plasma at atmospheric pressure with a high concentration of Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species (RONS), we develop products and systems with application in medicine, veterinary, surface treatment and others.

NATURAL CYCLES

Natural Cycles is a revolutionary approach to birth control and family planning, empowering women to take informed decisions.

Developed initially by two former physicists, our algorithm and app is clinically tested and backed by several international VC firms. Our mission is to pioneer women’s health by providing every woman with the knowledge she needs to be in charge of her health.

PICKLETECH

At PickleTech we develop multimodal Artificial Intelligence solutions to assist decisions in Healthcare, Life Sciences and DeepTech.

We focus on developing machine learning systems to help solve urgent challenges related to the triage, diagnosis and management of patients with worldwide affected diseases. We have worked on projects related to brain conditions like strokes, cardiovascular diseases, mental health and injuries.

TERAPET

Terapet is a CERN MedTech spin-off and has developed an innovative platform technology: a novel gamma ray detection system for imaging in nuclear medicine.

Terapet develops, manufactures and sells medical devices for nuclear imaging. Our products will be used at hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, research centres and proton therapy facilities.

The fair is not limited to alumni; anyone currently working at CERN is welcome to attend. The public space of CERN will host this dynamic event, creating an inclusive atmosphere for networking, exchanging ideas, and exploring the next steps in one's professional journey.

Registration for the Jobs Fair is not needed and it's free of charge for anyone working at CERN.

However, if you also wish to attend the talks, welcome reception, gala dinner and have access to all the other features of the event, we invite you to secure your ticket for the CERN Alumni Third Collisions event here: https://alumni.cern/page/third-collisions
