On 12 June 2024 we celebrated the 7th anniversary of the CERN Alumni Network with a special LinkedIn Live event. The broadcast, hosted from the iconic CERN Data Centre, celebrated the network's growth to nearly 10,000 members spanning over 120 countries since its inception in June 2017.

The event featured guests from the CERN and CERN Alumni community, who shared their experiences, insights, and the impact of their time at CERN on their subsequent careers.

One of the topics was a discussion on how CERN’s IT infrastructure handles massive data volumes and prepares for future challenges, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that defines CERN.
Another discussion was about CERN's commitment to open science and the various initiatives that extend CERN’s technological advancements to broader society. Examples included partnerships with international organizations to develop tools and solutions addressing global challenges.

The celebration also acknowledged the contributions of the CERN & Society Foundation, which bridges science and society through education, knowledge exchange, and cultural initiatives.
The Foundation's impact over the past decade was highlighted, along with ways for the alumni community to support its mission.

The event wrapped up with reflections on CERN’s bright future and the pivotal role alumni play as ambassadors and contributors to ongoing projects.
