Meet the 10,000th member of the CERN Alumni Network!
Since its launch in June 2017, just seven years later in July 2024, the CERN Alumni Network reached the significant milestone of 10,000 members.
Our 10,000th member, Giorgia Pittau, shared a heartfelt quote upon joining the network:
"For me, it is truly a great honor to be the 10,000th member to join the CERN Alumni Network. If someone had told me just two years ago that I would be selected to participate in the Summer Student Programme at CERN, I certainly wouldn't have believed them. Therefore, I can only thank those who believed in me and selected me from among the thousands of people who applied. After the selection, CERN managed to amaze me even more with the magnificent environment it offers. Every time I tried to imagine this place, I always thought that such a large laboratory could only be characterized by serious competition. Instead, I found a very welcoming, motivating, and empowering environment—an international environment, with teachers and students from all over the world, inclusive and extremely educational. I am sure that this place will never cease to amaze me."
