CERN Alumni join celebrations at the CERN70 Community event.
On 17 September, around 8,000 people gathered at CERN’s Meyrin site for a vibrant community celebration of CERN's 70th anniversary, including alumni who travelled from across Europe to join the festivities. "As soon as I arrived at CERN and felt the energy of the people gathering together to celebrate the existence of this unique place, I knew the attendance was worth the 5 hours trip by car. " mentioned CERN Alumna, Giovanna Campogiani.
It's great to be able to keep feeling part of the community and to attend such a cheerful festival, abundant with tasty food, amazing music and interesting people from all over the world!"
The Alumni Relations Office was thrilled to welcome them back, highlighting their vital role in bridging CERN’s past, present, and future.
The event offered alumni a chance to reconnect and reminisce on their shared journey. CERN Alumnus Giordano Cattani perfectly summed it up: “It was fantastic to return, reconnect with old colleagues, and celebrate CERN’s monumental impact over the past 70 years.”
CERN alumni remain deeply engaged with its mission, continuing to make a mark both within the organisation and beyond. As Director-General Fabiola Gianotti expressed to the whole community, “It is you who have written CERN’s history and continue to shape its future.”
At the Alumni Relations Office, we’re always excited to keep our alumni informed and involved with ongoing activities in the lab, ensuring they stay connected to the heart of CERN’s work.
