CERN in the media from 20/01/2025 to 26/01/2025

Published on January 29, 2025

Dear all,

Please find below the media monitoring report from 20 to 26 January 2025. These press cuttings have been selected from more than 830 results identified by our media system.

An interview of Fabiola Gianotti, done last year on the occasion of the Ostrava Festival, was published by Czech media Reflex.

The FCC was covered again last week. Among other topics, Michel Spiro and Gregorio Bernardi discussed CERN’s needs for a new accelerator in lengths on France Culture, during a special episode of la conversation scientifique dedicated to CERN’s 70th anniversary. French media le Figaro published an article about the FCC geophysical studies and a Slovenian podcast covered this topic as well.

Following a visit organised by the Press Office with our colleagues from Knowledge Transfer,
a BBC article about CERN’s contributions to the cancer treatment field was published and widely picked up by international outlets. CMS’s searches for violation of Lorentz invariance in top quark pair production was also widely covered in the news last week.

Other notable mentions include an article in Nature about CERN’s pioneering scheme to pay publishers more if they hit open-science targets, Chile’s integration to CERN moving forward, CERN’s impact on South Africa’s workforce development, an upcoming CERN70 event in Valencia, and an interview about Science Gateway on Europe 1. Last week, the CERN Science Gateway was also listed by Lonely Planets as one of the best activities to do in Geneva.

We wish you all a great week!

Best regards,

The Press Team
