CERN in the media from 27/01/2025 to 02/02/2025

Published on February 5, 2025

Dear all,

Please find below the media monitoring report from 27 January to 02 February 2025. These press cuttings have been selected from more than 744 results identified by our media system.

Future CERN DG Mark Thomson spoke with Physics World about the future of CERN.

CMS’s searches for violation of Lorentz invariance in top quark pair production was again covered. The BBC article about CERN’s contribution to the field of cancer treatment is still being picked up by additional outlets too. The FCC was covered again last week, this time by local press on a debate organised in Margencel.

Following a visit organised by the Press Office, ExploreMedia published
a video about CERN and the Large Hadron Collider. After launching the 2025 cultural season on the 22 January in Science Gateway, both Le Temps and GHI covered the upcoming “Quantum” season.

Other mentions include Chile’s progresses in the journey to become a CERN Associate Member State, Slovenia’s imminent accession to Member State, South Africa and CERN celebrating 15 years of collaboration, and the upcoming visit at CERN of Mexican politician Alejandro Armenta.

We wish you all a great week!

Best regards,

The Press Team
