CERN in the media from 10/02/2025 to 16/02/2025

Published on February 19, 2025

 Dear all,

Please find below the media monitoring report from 10 to 16 February 2025. These press cuttings have been selected from more than 2692 results identified by our media system.

An interview of Fabiola Gianotti from 2013 was published again by Vanity Fair right before the International Day of Women in STEM. On the day itself, many CERN scientists were mentioned in articles.

Following a speech of EU President Ursula Von der Leyen who said that the CERN success story should be replicated for research on AI, CERN was mentioned all over the world. On the topic of AI, DG-elect Mark Thomson’s discussion with the Guardian is still being quoted by other outlets.

ALPHA’s result published in Nature Physics on 17 January was covered by various media.

Other mentions include obituaries for South African scientist and former colleague Senamile Masango, CERN’s involvement in cancer treatment research, an article about Peter Higgs, Chile’s application to become an Associate Member State, and progress in the collaboration between Guatemala and CERN.

We wish you all a great week!

Best regards,

The Press team
