Over the past few weeks, we've been dropping hints about something new and exciting coming to the CERN Alumni Network (CAN). You've seen the teasers, heard the buzz, and maybe even guessed thanks to the treasure hunt for ... particles!

We’re thrilled to launch the CERN Alumni Engagement Programme as of April 2025!

This new initiative celebrates the energy, time, and passion you (CAN-doers) bring to the community—through events, volunteering, communications, and much more. 

🔷 How does it work?

You’ll now be able to earn digital badges based on your engagement with the Alumni Network. These badges will appear on your alumni profile, in the coming weeks, and signal your invaluable contributions.

There are three categories:

• Communications – For those who share stories, spark conversations, and inspire others etc,...

• Experiential – For alumni who attend events, who benefit as mentees and who regularly visit the alumni.cern platform etc,...
  

• Volunteering – For those who lead the way by managing groups, mentoring, or speaking at events etc,...

By engaging with these activities, you will also benefit; you will develop valuable skills, grow your network and have the satisfaction of experiencing something rewarding. Each badge will come with specific criteria—simple and accessible—so that everyone, no matter where they are, can become a CAN-doer.
