The CERN Alumni Network Hits 11,000 Members!
We’re thrilled to share that the CERN Alumni Network has now surpassed 11,000 members!
The 11,000th member to join was Szymon Jan Galuszka, a control engineer in the Fluidic Systems section of EP-DT, who has been part of CERN since 2018. Szymon’s work supports the HL-LHC upgrade through his involvement in innovative detector cooling systems for ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb.
“My name is Szymon, and I am a control engineer in the Fluidic Systems section of EP-DT. Since 2018, I have been involved in the development and implementation of control systems for innovative detector cooling solutions used in the ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb experiments.
Two major projects I am currently dedicated to are the ATLAS SR1 2PACL DEMO Inheritance (Building 2175 – SR1), shown in the photo, and the ATLAS Phase2 2PACL system (located in the service cavern of the ATLAS experiment), both of which are part of the HL-LHC upgrade.”

Szymon also reflected on joining the network at just the right moment:
“I was very surprised when I received an email informing me that I had become the 11,000th CERN Alumni. At first, I thought it was spam, but after carefully reading the message, I realized that I truly was the lucky one!”
The CERN Alumni Network was established on 8 June 2017 with the primary goals of helping alumni stay connected, supporting those in their early careers, building a network of alumni ambassadors in support of CERN and its mission, and highlighting the positive impact of CERN alumni across the globe. Over the years, the network has grown, fostering a vibrant community of professionals dedicated to maintaining their connection with CERN and each other.
