CERN in the media from 07/07/2025 to 13/07/2025

Dear all,

Please find below the media monitoring report for the period from the 07 July to 13 July 2025. These press cuttings have been selected from 1766 results identified by our media monitoring system.

The observation of toponium from LHC data was covered in the media. Several outlets report that the ATLAS collaboration observed two extremely rare decays of the Higgs boson. The first proton–oxygen ion collisions are also still covered.

Following a group visit for Italian media organised by the Press Office in collaboration with the tourism office of Geneva, several articles describe CERN as a key landmark in the Geneva region. Various outlets covered the visit of the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology. Slovenia’s official accession as a CERN Member State is also still in the news.

Other mentions include the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics, the winners of Beamline for Schools 2025 and articles about how 5-plets could challenge string theory if detected in the collisions at the LHC.

We wish you a great end of the week,
