Published on September 12, 2025

Hello everyone,

We hope this message finds you well, settled after the rentrée, and ready for another short break!
Our Links are back, and here’s our selection for this week:

WIT Talks

We greatly appreciated an insightful conversation with Fabiola Gianotti last month.

For those that missed it, the recording is available here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1570166/

Looking ahead, we’re excited for the upcoming talk with Mark Thomson, CERN’s incoming DG.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Mark Thomson as he shares his vision for CERN’s future and engages in an open discussion on WIT matters and beyond:

Staff Association

The Staff Association delegate mandates end this year, with elections coming up, and we especially encourage women and younger colleagues to get involved.

The next two years are particularly important, as they will include the 5-yearly review, an opportunity to propose improvements and advocate for changes.

To vote or run, join the SA by October 3, and please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] with any questions.

Back to school

How Back to School Puts Working Moms in an Impossible Bind:

Company leaders can retain valuable employees by returning to remote work and restructuring the workday, male partners can take a more equal share of childcare, and state and national legislators can propose and vote for budgets that pay for care to cover the gaps.

Until these things happen, the difficult math and the scrambling will continue. And as usual, moms will bear the brunt.
