CERN in the media from 04/01/2021 to 10/01/2021

Jan 14, 2021

Dear all,

Please find below the media monitoring report from 4 to 10 January 2021. These press cuttings have been selected amongst 456 articles identified by our media monitoring system.
CERN’s plans to deploy the use of proximeters has been mentioned in quite a few outlets including Bloomberg. A feature on CMS’ new calorimeter was published in Physics World.
Obituaries on Martinus Veltman and his contribution to physics dominated related news during this period. Other pieces included a list of short animated film purportedly on the list for 2020 Oscars Short Film (one of which features a scene in a Control Room at CERN), Cerema’s participation in the FCC Innovation Study, Latvia to become a CERN Associate Member, a LEGO building competition of the ALICE detector, EU licensing SESAME to support a nuclear and radiation safety programme, Tim Berners-Lee’s interview in The New York Times, and an art exhibition in Istanbul featuring works inspired by CERN among other organisations.
On top of these articles, there is one from 12 January 2021 which talks about the game of Golf and CERN.

Kind regards,
The CERN Alumni Relations and Press Team
