What memories do you have from the 4 July 2012 announcement of the Higgs boson?

"I was a summer student at CERN in 2012. I couldn't believe my luck when I was one of 3 summer students selected to be present in the auditorium as the discovery of the Higgs Boson was announced.  I remember the atmosphere in the room, full of anticipation and excitement.  I will never forget the tears in the eyes of Dr. Peter Higgs, as a particle he had theorised decades ago came to life.  CERN is where the magic of science becomes a reality and I feel fortunate to have witnessed such a groundbreaking moment in science."

What is your best memory of working at CERN?

"Undoubtedly the announcement of the Higgs discovery! But I also have fond memories with my fellow summer students, sitting under the tree outside R1 which we called "The Magic Tree" and having conversations about science and about life."
