Women In Technology - Friday Links - 20/05/2022
Hello everybody,
here is our selection of Friday links!
As already announced in the last WIT Friday links, the CERN relay race is back after two years of absence.
https://runningclub.web.cern.ch/content/cern-relay-race
We managed to make our WIT team with 6 participants. Yay!
Of course, if there are more people interested we could try to make a second WIT team. That would be great!
If you feel like it, come to the event to cheer us!
Eurostat has published on 13 May some statistics on the number of people employed in science and technology and the distribution between men and women. In 2021, of the 74 million people in the EU aged 15 to 74 employed in science and technology, 52% were women, +4% compared with 2020 and +26% compared with 2011. Data show that the female workforce grew more than their male counterparts (+1% more male compared with 2020 and +16% compared with 2011).

We would like to draw your attention on an interesting conference that takes place in Lund, Sweden, on 22-23 June.
Gender Dimension in Physics and Math Intensive Research and Training
Please note that registration is possible up to the 10th of June.
Still on conferences, the LHCP 2022 took place from May 16th to 20th and featured a parallel track on Outreach, Diversity and Education. In particular the first session of the track was focused on diversity.
You could find below three talks that talk about gender balance in our field:
Monitoring and promotion of diversity in the Asian landscape by Srubabati Goswami (Physical Research Laboratory)
Diversity activities in theory by Marika Taylor (University of Southampton)
Diversity monitoring at the LHC and small experiments by Eli Ben Haim (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique)
The call for volunteers for La Nuit de la Science (9-10 July 2022) is already online on home.cern here: https://home.cern/fr/news/announcement/cern/volunteer-cerns-summer-activities-cineglobe-and-science-night
Do not hesitate to sign up and forward it to your French speakers colleagues!
We would like to advertise a series of hackathons that take place in Geneva. This series has already started but people can still participate!
