Published on August 29, 2022

The CERN Alumni Network reached another milestone on Tuesday, as we have grown to 8000 members! The 8000th person to join the network is an administrative student yet to start her contract in September. This only goes to demonstrate our philosophy: Alumni from day one: https://alumni.cern/news/898260

Pierre Darriulat, was the spokesperson of the UA2 experiment and Director of Research at CERN. Later, he founded a research group in Vietnam which is now the Department of AstroPhysics (DAP) of the Vietnam National Space Center, all part of the larger Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The DUNE experiment plans to study neutrinos —highly elusive subatomic particles that may hold the key to many of the universe’s secrets. The excavation of huge caverns to accommodate it is underway: https://news.fnal.gov/2022/08/excavation-of-huge-caverns-for-dune-particle-detector-is-underway/

Finally, this is the last weekly digest I will write as my admin student contract is coming to an end. Being part of the Alumni Relations team has been an amazing experience and I look forward to coming back to CERN as an alumna. Now, Annum Rao will take my place as the new admin student of the team and I wish her the best of luck in her new role! – Elina Riznic
