Last week’s coverage opened with an interview given by CERN Director-General to the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, subsequently republished by Research Professional News. In the interview, Mark Thomson expressed optimism regarding the prospects for funding the Future Circular Collider (FCC), while discussing the scientific and strategic arguments behind the project and its importance for the future of particle physics.
Press coverage also highlighted CERN Science Gateway’s nomination for the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA) 2026. Euronews featured the competition, placing CERN’s visitors centre among the museums shortlisted for one of Europe’s most prestigious cultural distinctions.
The Organisation’s present and future scientific programme also received significant media attention. Several outlets, such as ANSA or Numerama, explained how the LS3 will pave the way for the installation and commissioning of the High-Luminosity LHC.
Additional mentions looked beyond the High-Luminosity LHC and focused on CERN’s longer-term vision. The Canadian programme Quirks & Quarks from CBC Radio and the Spanish broadcaster Cadena SER discussed the Future Circular Collider project and its potential to address some of the most fundamental questions in physics.
Other CERN-related coverage included an article on the migration of CERN’s flagship website, home.cern, to WordPress, following the WordCamp Europe Conference in Kraków.
