CERN ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME WINS CASE SILVER AWARD The CERN Office for Alumni Relations has been awarded a CASE Circle of Excellence Silver Award 2026 in recognition of the CERN Alumni Engagement Programme. The award highlights the success of initiatives such as CAN-doers, which have helped make alumni engagement more visible, structured and rewarding across the global CERN community. In its first year, the programme more than doubled recorded volunteer hours, reflecting the growing impact of alumni contributions. This is the second CASE recognition for the team, following the Gold Award received in 2022 for Second Collisions. The judges particularly praised the creativity of the approach, including the use of digital badges and gamification to encourage participation. At its core, the programme celebrates every form of contribution—mentoring, volunteering, speaking, sharing expertise or supporting fellow alumni—and recognises the people who make the CERN Alumni Network thrive: https://alumni.cern/news/13316036 Learn more about the programme and how to get involved: https://alumni.cern/page/cern-alumni-engagement-programme CERN ALUMNI NYC & FLATIRON INSTITUTE BRING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER On 26 June, the CERN Alumni New York group and the Flatiron Institute hosted an evening of scientific exchange bringing together researchers from academia and industry. The event featured contributions from CERN alumni and scientists working across fields including high-energy physics, AI, and computational mathematics, followed by informal networking and discussions on emerging technologies and collaboration opportunities. The CERN Alumni New York group continues to grow as a dynamic international community connecting alumni across sectors including AI, quantum computing, data science and finance.
