Last week’s coverage opened with an article in The New York Times focusing on the ongoing transformation of the LHC into the HL-LHC, which quoted CERN Director-General Mark Thomson. In the context of LHCb Week in Vilnius, Lithuanian media LRT published an interview with CERN Director for Research and Computing Gautier Hamel de Monchenault, covering the scientific goals of CERN and the future of particle physics.
Lithuanian media extensively covered the first LHCb Week to be held in Lithuania, including an interview also on LRT with LHCb Spokesperson Tim Gershon and LHCb Vilnius group leader Mindaugas Šarpi. Meanwhile, a new observation by ATLAS of quantum entanglement between pairs of Z bosons produced in Higgs boson decays also attracted media attention, following a home.cern story and a paper published in Physical Review Letters.
The FCC remained in the spotlight, with different media outlets examining the scientific case for the future collider and the debate surrounding the project.
Additionally, other mentions included a BBC programme featuring ATLAS researcher Clara Nellist, while the Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to CERN continued to receive media attention.
