Hello everybody,

It’s Friday and now time for all of us to swich-on to the weekend mode=D

Job Shadowing

Following last year’s success, we are helping in organising this year again the pairing of young girls with female CERN employees, for few days, in the frame of the job shadowing program.

The job shadowing program aims to help school children confirm the choice of their future studies through discovering CERN and how it is pushing the frontiers of science and technology.

We believe that sometimes having a same-gender pairing could be more effective for inspiring girls into STEM-related studies and careers later on.

We are looking for Sheroes to:

Everyday sexism

Most women experience sexism and harassment on a regular basis—daily acts that are often ignored. With her Everyday Sexism Project, writer Laura Bates wanted to give women an outlet to speak up. In this fascinating talk, Laura talks about her inspiring initiative. The Everyday Sexism Project is an ever-increasing collection of over 50,000 women's experiences of gender imbalance. The stories come from women of all ages, races and sexual orientations, disabled and non-disabled, employed and unemployed, religious and non-religious

Mother’s day — as in one mom

A stereotype, a commercial trap or the world giving a shoutout to moms everywhere?

Jarvis, the inventor of Mother’s day, was very intentional about the name of her holiday. It’s Mother’s Day — as in one mom. The way Jarvis put it, Mother’s Day is a day to honor “the best mother who ever lived, yours.”

Whatever your take might be, here are three wonderful movies and a comedy-special that highlight different aspects of this complex role:

Set over one summer, the film follows precocious six-year-old Moonee as she courts mischief and adventure with her ragtag playmates and bonds with her rebellious but caring mother, all while living in the shadows of Walt Disney World.

A peculiar neighbor offers hope to a recent widow who is struggling to raise a teenager who is unpredictable and, sometimes, violent.

Cleo is one of two domestic workers who help Antonio and Sofía take care of their four children in 1970s Mexico City. Complications soon arise when Antonio suddenly runs away with his mistress and Cleo finds out that she's pregnant. When Sofía decides to take the kids on vacation, she invites Cleo for a much-needed getaway to clear her mind and bond with the family.

"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah touches on tacos, runaway snakes, camping, racism immunity and lessons he learned from his mother in this comedy special.

Wishing you all a wonderful sunny weekend,

Eva for WIT-communications
