  • ‘You can yodel and don’t have to be conservative’: the Swiss feminist choir rewriting traditional songs. Echo vom Eierstock (“echo from the ovary”) is Switzerland’s first feminist yodelling choir, founded in 2022 to rewrite traditional Alpine folk songs that portray women in passive or stereotypical roles, while keeping the musical style intact. Read more

Hansa Mehta, one of the few women framers of the Indian Constitution, played a significant role in ensuring that Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was made inclusive and is credited to changing the phrase “All men are born free and equal” to “All human beings are born free and equal”.
