Dear all,
Please find below the media monitoring report for the period 3-9 November 2025. These press cuttings have been selected from 1448 results identified by our media monitoring system.
Media coverage this week focused strongly on CERN’s scientific achievements. The first observation of single top quark production with W and Z bosons by CMS received broad international attention, as did ISOLDE’s new ion recycling trap, enabling the chemical reactivity analysis of the rarest and least understood elements.
Likewise, the experiment conducted by CERN researchers and the University of Oxford that recreated plasma fireballs using ultrarelativistic protons from the Super Proton Synchrotron attracted wide media interest. Coverage also referred to China’s decision to pause its Circular Electron Positron Collider project, following the CERN Courier publication, with references to CERN’s own plans for the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
Other mentions included reports on the Dijon-based company Geotec being selected to carry out the geotechnical drilling campaign for the FCC, while CERN’s heating network project in the local area continued to receive positive coverage for its environmental and community benefits.
We wish you a great week,
The Press Team
