CERN Alumni Weekly News | Solidarity with Ukraine, Moving out of Academia to Data Science and Data engineering, San Francisco Bay Area and Belgium Group Launches, ATLAS and CMS studies, countdown to LHC Run 3.

Following the invasion and subsequent escalation of aggression by Russian armed forces, a humanitarian crisis has been unfolding in Ukraine, an Associate Member State of CERN. CERN wishes to express solidarity with our Ukrainian colleagues, their families and the entire Ukrainian people. Our thoughts are with everyone whose life has been disrupted by the war. CERN was established in the aftermath of World War II to bring nations and people together for the peaceful pursuit of science: aggression and war run counter to everything that the Organization stands for. CERN will continue to uphold its core values of scientific collaboration across borders as a driver for peace: https://home.cern/solidarity-ukraine#:~:text=CERN%20was%20established%20in%20the,that%20the%20Organization%20stands%20for

Our Moving out of Academia to Data Science and Data engineering event last Friday welcomed more than 300  participants along with eight CERN alumni working in these sectors. If you missed it, the recording will be available in our media centre soon (https://alumni.cern/media_center) but in the meantime, you can review the main points here: https://alumni.cern/news/696792

Are you located in either the San Francisco Bay Area or Belgium? If so, thanks to the launch of CERN Alumni Regional groups, you can meet other CERN Alumni through our networking events: on the 17th of March in Belgium and the 24th of March in San Francisco. Make sure you join the corresponding groups on alumni.cern to stay tuned: https://alumni.cern/topics?category_id=95

The ATLAS and CMS collaborations have explored the possibility of the Higgs particle being decayed into new particles, invisible to the LHC detectors, in two recent studies: https://home.cern/news/news/physics/atlas-and-cms-chase-invisible-higgs-boson
