Snowmass | Special Invitation to CERN Alumni

Published on June 26, 2022

The Seattle Snowmass Summer Meeting will take place from July 17-26 in Seattle, WA.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for the entire particle physics community to identify and document a scientific vision for the future of particle physics in the U.S. Snowmass will define the most important questions for the field of particle physics and identify promising opportunities to address them. In addition, the event will feature a Snowmass Early Career Scientists forum.

The Snowmass Summer Meeting offers other exciting opportunities for CERN Alumni as well, including:
Industry Networking Night (July 19 Tue 7:30 pm) where alumni can represent their companies for recruitment. This event will feature 2 hours of activities with fun games, light food and drink. Each table will be composed of 1 industry representative and 4 to 5 early career members. This event will be in-person only.

Career Panel (July 22 Fri 12:30 pm) where alumni can join a panel discussion to share their career development experiences. It will feature a 1 hour panel discussion with short speeches from each panelist and open Q&A discussion. This will be a hybrid event and possible for virtual attendants.

The Snowmass Summer Meeting also offers representatives from industry unique opportunities to network with senior and early career participants, showcase your companies and potentially recruit from within a highly-skilled talent pool. These opportunities include:
•    Sponsoring the conference in a variety of ways (main conference, poster session, etc)
•    Showcasing your company in our industry exhibit (http://seattlesnowmass2021.net/industryExhibit/)
•    Engaging with senior attendees in sessions and coffee breaks (https://indico.fnal.gov/e/Snowmass2021)
•    As participants in a career event (http://seattlesnowmass2021.net/networkingNight/)

To learn more about these industry opportunities, please contact Jan Strube and Shih-Chieh Hsu at [email protected] by June 30.

If you would like to be part of the Snowmass Summer Meeting but cannot make it to Seattle, all events will be available via Zoom. Registration for this virtual program is available for a discount price of $150 — and is free for early career participants or Emeritus/CERN Alumni who are not directly associated with high energy physics. Start registration from here.

CERN Alumni who are not in the active academic research areas but would like to attend a few sessions in-person. You are cordially invited through free complementary registration. Please contact Jan Strube and Shih-Chieh Hsu via [email protected].

CERN Alumni are also invited to attend the Snowmass Colliderscope event on Saturday, July 23, 7:30-9:00 pm near UW campus (https://seattlesnowmass2021.net/colliderscope/). Colliderscope is a great place to meet other members of the particle physics community in a fun and casual setting. Admission is free.
