Dear all,
Please find below the media monitoring report for the period 19–25 January 2026. These press cuttings have been selected from the results identified by our media monitoring system.
Media coverage included continued attention on the Future Circular Collider (FCC), following the Director-General’s interview with Nature, and the private economic support for the project.
Media also widely reported on the visit of the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, to CERN, including his meeting with DG Mark Thomson and statements highlighting Lithuania’s ambition to further strengthen its collaboration with CERN. Coverage likewise featured the visit of the Spanish Minister for Science, Diana Morant, underlining Spain’s continued support for CERN and its scientific programme.
Other important CERN-related news included coverage of new results obtained at HiRadMat, showing how asteroids may become more lethal during atmospheric entry and attracting interest beyond the traditional particle-physics audience. Media also published an in-depth interview with Frédéric Bordry, former Director for Accelerators and Technology, focusing on CERN’s accelerators, technological challenges and the exploration of the unknown.
Additional mentions included a video published on social media by the Italian influencer Jakidale, following his visit to CERN in October last year.
We wish you a great week,
The Press Team
